Uncovering the secret of glutathione

What is glutathione

Glutathione, or GSH for short, is a tripeptide composed of three amino acids, glutamic acid, cysteine and glycine.

Glutathione is a substance that is naturally present in the body. It is highest in the body during infancy, decreases with age, and is present in almost every cell of the body.

Glutathione ingredient misunderstanding

1. Oral ingested glutathione is metabolized in the gastrointestinal tract, so topical glutathione products are more reliable than oral ones in the pursuit of whitening results.

2. Glutathione has a certain effect on antioxidant, whitening and repair of damaged skin, but it has a relatively limited effect on other skin problems, such as acne and other skin inflammation.

Glutathione whitening mechanism

Glutathione is an amino acid with powerful antioxidant capacity, which plays a key role in the whitening process.

First, glutathione can inhibit the formation of melanin and reduce the production of dark spots.

Secondly, it can promote skin metabolism, accelerate the loss of old cuticle, make the skin more smooth and delicate.

Finally, glutathione can also repair damaged skin cells, improve skin immunity, and fundamentally improve skin condition.

Inhibiting tyrosinase activity

Glutathione can directly inhibit the activity of tyrosinase, a key enzyme in the production of melanin. By inhibiting the activity of this enzyme, glutathione reduces the formation of melanin, which helps to whiten the skin.

Scavenging free radicals

Glutathione has powerful antioxidant capacity and is able to remove free radicals from the body. Free radicals are a cause of many skin problems, including overproduction of melanin. By scavenging free radicals, glutathione helps maintain skin health and reduces melanin formation.

Regulating peroxy free radicals

Glutathione is also able to regulate the levels of peroxy free radicals, which are closely related to the formation of melanin. By regulating these free radicals, glutathione helps control the production of melanin, which in turn results in whitening.

Interference with melanin synthesis

Glutathione can be hydrolyzed in the body to cysteine, a substance that interferes with melanin synthesis. Through this mechanism, glutathione further reduces the production of melanin, which contributes to skin whitening.

Reduce UV stimulation of melanocytes

Glutathione has the ability to clear the reactive oxygen species produced in epidermal cells induced by ultraviolet radiation, thus effectively reducing the stimulation of ultraviolet light on melanocytes. This helps prevent UV-induced increased melanin production, further maintaining fair skin.

The power of glutathione

Enhance skin elasticity

It has a good integrated moisturizing effect, which can provide a good growth environment for new muscle cells, make skin cells more healthy, make skin full of water, become smoother and more elastic.

Whitening and brightening

It can inactivate tyrosinase activity, inhibit the production of melanin, weaken the biochemical activity and formation of melanocytes, and also enhance the role of vitamin C in the body and have a whitening effect.

antioxidant

Glutathione plays an important role in the human biochemical defense system and has a variety of physiological functions, its main physiological function is to remove excess free radicals in the human body, thereby delaying skin aging.

Notes on glutathione

  • 1. Glutathione, as a peptide, is naturally unstable and easily breaks down in water and loses its effectiveness.

  • 2. Glutathione levels decline with age. Glutathione levels generally begin to decline after the age of 35.

  • 3. Bad habits, smoking and drinking, chronic diseases, infections, poor sleep, and long-term chronic stress can all cause their glutathione to be constantly consumed.

  • 4. Glutathione can be supplemented by eating animal liver, yeast, tomatoes, cherries, cherry tomatoes and other foods.

  • 5. The whitening effect of glutathione may be limited to UV induced tanning and whitening.
